Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is an escape room / escape game?

An escape room is a fun interactive adventure in which people are locked in a room with other participants and must use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set limit of time (one hour). Players must be observant, use their critical thinking skills, and cooperate as a team to escape the room and win the game. These games are great for couples, double dates, birthday parties, corporate team-building events, and community organizations.

What makes Cross Roads Escape Games so unique?

The owners and creators, Madison and Luke, are escape game fanatics who have played over 250 escape rooms together. With a background in theater, their games are high in production value, with highly immersive sets built from the ground up.  They have created the next generation of escape games that will impress new players and even enthusiasts like themselves.

How much is it to play?

Tickets are $42 per person. Prices may fluctuate during different seasons.

How early should I arrive?

Everyone in the group should arrive at their scheduled game time. There will be a waiver to fill out before the game begins.

What if I arrive past my scheduled time?

All games start 10 minutes after your scheduled time. If you are late, the game will begin without you, and no refund will be given. Players cannot enter or exit a game once it has already started.

What can I bring with me?

Please dress comfortably; some games may require someone in the group to crawl. There will be lockers to keep your belongings in. Cell phones, pens, pencils, flashlights, and lighters are prohibited inside the game.

How long do I have to escape?

You have up to 60 minutes.

What if I want to play with only friends?

That’s great! All of our escape games are private, meaning only you and your team will be in the game.

What if I have a large group or corporate event?

We can accommodate teams of any size! Please see the TEAM BUILDING tab or email info@CrossRoadsEscapeGames.com for more information.

Is this a good place to have my party?

Yes! We have people celebrating with us all the time! You can also rent out our exclusive lounge to hang out in after your game. Please see PARTIES for more information.

Am I really locked in?

Any player can leave at any time, but they may not renter the game once it has started.

Depending on the game, you may have an unlocked emergency exit inside the room; other games will have a glowing green ‘push to exit’ button next to the door that will unlock the door in an emergency.

How do I apply to be a part of the Cross Roads team?

We are always looking for enthusiastic people to be Game Masters! Please fill out an application and drop it off at our location along with a resume.  As a Game Master (coolest title ever, right?), you will help provide a unique and immersive experience for our customers in a new and exciting field of entertainment and team building!

Ticket Questions

Can I add more players to my game after I purchased tickets?

If you have already purchased tickets to reserve your game, additional guests can pay at the door when they arrive. Please note that 10 participants are our maximum for The Hex Room, and 8 participants are the maximum for The Fun House and The Weeping Witch.

Can I pay for tickets individually?

If you wish to purchase tickets online, the minimum number of tickets must be purchased (5 for Hex Room, 3 for Fun House, or 4 for Weeping Witch). You can also call us at (714) 572-1004 and put down a 2-ticket deposit to reserve your date and time for THE HEX ROOM. This deposit is non-refundable. The rest of your group can pay individually when they arrive.

Please be aware that The Hex Room is for 5-10 participants and must have at least 5 players for the game to function.  If your group is under 5 players, you will not be able to play, and no refund will be given.  The Fun House requires a minimum of 3 tickets purchased to reserve your space. The Weeping Witch requires a minimum of 4 tickets purchased to reserve your space.

Can I reschedule or cancel my time?

All sales are final. Tickets are nonrefundable. If you need to reschedule your game, you must call 24 hours before your scheduled game. If less than 24 hours of notice is given, there is a $60 rescheduling fee.

Are my tickets transferrable?

Yes, you can transfer your tickets to a friend if they bring the confirmation sheet you received at checkout and come at the scheduled time.

General Questions

How many people are in a game?

Each game has different rules and a different number of players. THE HEX ROOM is for 5-10 players. THE FUN HOUSE is for 3-8 players. THE WEEPING WITCH is for 4-8 players. Please see THE GAMES for more details.

Is there an age limit?

No, but we have age recommendations for each of our games.

The Hex Room: Because the puzzles are challenging and the atmosphere is intense, we recommend ages 16+. If someone is under the age of 16, we recommend pairing them with an adult.

The Weeping Witch: This game has jump scares, loud noises, and a scare actor. Because this game has a 4/5 scare rating, we recommend ages 14+.

The Fun House: This is a wacky, fun, and whimsical game and is open to all ages. We have two versions of this game: Adults (difficult) and KIDS! (easy).

The original Fun House is designed to challenge teens and adults. If you have anyone under the age of 13, we recommend checking out our alternative version, Fun House KIDS!

Anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult age 18+.

Children CAN NOT be left unattended in the lobby. All participants must sign a waiver. If under the age of 18, a parent/guardian must sign a waiver in advance. Please go to the bottom of this page to download a waiver and bring it with you at your game time.

What is the difference between Fun House and Fun House KIDS?

The Fun House is our original game and is designed to challenge teens and adults. In Fun House KIDS! We modify our Fun House game, remove more challenging puzzles, and replace them with ones that children ages 8-13 will enjoy. Children under the age of 8 can still enjoy the game but might have difficulty participating in the puzzles. Now you can enjoy escape games with the whole family! At checkout, you will be given the option of what version you would like your game set to. Anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult age 18+.

Can I play The Hex Room with less than 5 players or join into another group?

Unfortunately, no. The Hex Room is unique in its game design. Your team will be split amongst 6 different rooms, and it requires at least 5 of those rooms to be occupied, which is why this game requires at least 5 participants for the game to function. It is also a private game, so you will not be able to join in on another group’s game.

Can I play The Fun House with less than 3 players?

Yes! But the minimum number of tickets (3) must be purchased to reserve your game.

Can I play The Weeping Witch with less than 4 players?

Yes! But the minimum number of tickets (4) must be purchased to reserve your game.

Do you offer hints if we get stuck?

Yes, each game has an integrated hint system. There is no penalty for receiving hints.

Can I play if I'm pregnant?

It depends on you and what you feel comfortable with. You will be required to stand for the entire length of all of our games. All of our games have some physical elements that other players in your team may have to do for you.

We do not recommend playing The Weeping Witch if you are pregnant.

Fun House is more accommodating and a better choice to play if anyone in your group is pregnant.

What if I suffer from claustrophobia?

In The Hex Room, the smallest room is about the size of a walk-in closet or an elevator. If this makes you feel uncomfortable, we do not recommend this game.

The Fun House is a large game and is suitable for those who are claustrophobic.

Any advice for someone who is new to escape games?

Touch everything, search everything; you never know where a clue could be hidden. Make sure to communicate with your team, let them know what you have found, and be involved with what they are working on. Lastly, pay attention to little details; you never know what could help you escape!

If anyone is under the age of 18 in your group, please download and sign the waiver by a parent/ guardian before your arrive:
